Rêve causé par le vol d'une abeille autour d'une pomme-granade, une seconde avant l'éveil (1944)

Painted by:

Salvador Dalí

The synthesis of traditional art painting, atom mystic and subconsciousness,
the dreaming reality becomes more and more a main characteristic for Dalí´s paintings.
The evolution to the masterwork "The Temptation of St.Anthony" seemed just a matter of time.
The work is originally meant to appear as the only coloured object,
i.e. painting, in a black and white movie directed by Albert Levin.

Dalí originally started painting elephants with thin legs way back in 1931.
It is a returning topic in his works.
This painting, "Elephants", has been painted in 1948.
The thin legs reflect a higher dimension, it has a spiritualistic meaning.
