Cygnes reflétant des éléphants (1937)
Painted by:
Salvador Dalí
Painting above is from Dalí´s critical paranoid period.
Also very well known from this period is the next painting : "Metamorphosis of Narcissus".
The guy who falls in love with his reflection in the water, got no answer on his questions but only echos.
Finally Narcissus languished completely and died.
It is a ancient greek story with an irrational theme.
The nimphs of the forest only found a little flower, a narcis, but couldn't find the body of Narcissus anymore.
Dalí added more meaning to the original story of Narcissus.
He painted an extra detailed reflection trying to explain the phantasy telling
with accurate and exact reproduced objects like a hand holding a narcis sprouting from an onion.
